A few years back I had the distinct privilege of recording the amazing Gennett Suite with the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, composed by Brent Wallarab. There were many great players on that recording, but one who was new to me and who blew me away was our lead saxophone player, and current Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at the Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music, Greg Ward.

From the moment I heard him play I knew I wanted him on the show. With my playing and academic schedule, finding time to get Greg on the show proved to be difficult. However, we persevered and a few years later, we had an interview date. I then sent Matthew a link to Greg’s most current album, Dion’s Quest. A couple of hours later, both Matthew and I had purchased ALL of Greg’s albums.
We’re big fans.
We talked with Greg long enough for 2 shows! On this first show, we featured music mainly from Dion’s Quest, but also pulled from his first album, Greg Ward’s Fitted Shards South Side Story. We hope you like this music as much as we do!
