As we were preparing for our first interview with violinist Sara Caswell, HYH Podcast #82: Sara Caswell (1), we received in the mail an incredible album of string quartet commissions produced and facilitated by Ryan Truesdell, and lo-and-behold, who is the violinist on this album? None other than Sara Caswell!

The album “Synthesis” is 3 hours long and features string quartets written by 13 different jazz composers, many of which have never written for this instrumentation. The result is fantastic.

We talk with Sara about this project and we play several pieces. Next episode, we actually talk with Ryan Truesdell to dive into the genesis of this project and how it all came together.
