There are moments in ones musical life where things come full circle. This is one of these moments for me (Rich Dole). Several years ago when our guest for this episode was barely in High School, he started participating in the Butler Youth Jazz Program (BYJP). I just so happened to direct ensembles for the BYJP at the time (and still do when I am available). One year this young precocious guitar player appeared and started asking questions. He wanted to learn more and more and wanted to know which artists he should listen to. Week after week, and semester after semester, we gave him more and more to check out and things to do. One thing led to another and now, as a Jazz Major at Butler University, he is releasing his first album as a leader!

This album is a tribute to Indianapolis and features Steve Allee on piano, Jesse Wittman on bass, and Kenny Phelps on drums. His album, “Coffee’s On”, has its official album release party on Tuesday, October 29th at The Jazz Kitchen, 7pm.
