Recently retired jazz percussion professor at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Steve Houghton, has not just been resting and relaxing with his extra time. He has been busy putting together and recording his new album, “And Then Some”.

Steve has had an illustrious career and to list everyone he has played with would make this post too large and we’d have to upgrade our storage space, so instead I’ll just list a few notables like, Bob Florance Big Band, Frank Mantooth Big Band, Woody Herman, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Ray Brown Big Band, Billy Childs, Joe Henderson and Freddie Hubbard! (of course I would be remiss to NOT mention Steve’s excellent playing on Steve Allee’s recent albums: Zebra Stories, Naptown Sound, and Full Circle)
We had a great conversation with Steve and it was a pleasure showcasing the music on this album.
Personnel:
Steve Houghton – Drums
Larry Koonse – Guitar
Rusty Burge – Vibraphone
Steve Allee – Piano and Fender Rhodes
Jeremy Allen – Double Bass and Bass Guitar
Erin Benedict – Voice
