Nick Finzer is a young, up and coming trombonist based in New York City. He attended Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and Julliard School of Music in NYC and now plays around NYC and tours with various groups, including the Post Modern Jukebox.
This early Spring he has been traveling in support of his most current album Here and Now. The band on the album (Lucas Pino- tenor sax/bass clarinet, Alex Winz – guitar, Glenn Zaleski – piano, Dave Baron – bass, Jimmy Macbride – drums) is a tight knit group that demonstrates a connection one gains from playing together for several years.
All but one of the tunes on the album are original and arranged from a big band sensitivity. Interesting instrumental combinations, mutes, backgrounds, interludes, etc are used to create a very fun album!
This episode focuses on the conversation Nick and I had about the album, his career, and his musical perspective.
