I have known Brent Laidler for a few years now. Brent has had me come up to Lafayette, where he resides, and play in one of his many musical endeavors. Brent is also an accomplished brass repair technician. He has been maintaining all of my trombones for a few years now and he does an incredible job!
His new album, ‘No Matter Where Noir’, is music for a film that doesn’t exist. Even though you can listen to and enjoy each track on its own, when you listen from top to bottom, the album tells a story.
Featuring some amazing players from the region, this record really delivers an enjoyable experience. Brent’s writing is easy to hear from a casual standpoint, but when you dig a little deeper, you can really get into all the intricate lines and subtle harmonic movements. This album truly has something for every one of us!
